Did you know there are over two billion professing Christians in the World?  Many millions more commit their lives to Christ every year.  Here’s the problem: most are never taught the basics of Christianity.  When I say the “Basics” I mean how to pray, how to study the Bible, understanding your salvation, understanding the Holy Spirit, the Great Commission, tithing, and more.

I grew up in church but was never taught the basics of Christianity until I was a teenager.  My Pastor then taught me what the Bible says about salvation, how to pray, how to study, and why I should serve.  This knowledge I received about the basics made a huge difference in my life.  Before he taught me the basics, I couldn’t pray for more than five minutes.   I felt uncomfortable praying in public.  I struggled to understand the Bible.  I didn’t want to be a witness. Can you relate?

Many professing Christians struggle in their walk with God today or drop out of serving Christ.  Why? I believe it is in part because they were never given the solid foundation of learning the basics of Christianity.  They committed their lives to Christ, but no one ever explained what to do next. This book will help you grow as a believer, strengthen your walk with God, and encourage you to fulfill God’s will for your life.  I have a passion to teach people God’s Word and equip them to fulfill God’s call upon their lives.

When legendary Green Bay Packers football coach, Vince Lombardi took over the struggling Green Bay Packers in 1958, he was asked, “What are you going to change to turn this team around after a string of failures and losing seasons?”

I don’t eat much ice cream but a few years ago, I had a friend tell me that I had to try “Cold Stone Creamery” Ice Cream.  My friend said it was the best ice cream they had ever eaten.  I was hungry for ice cream once they described their ice cream creation.  At Cold Stone Creamery, you can add any flavor combinations that you want and build your own creation. I am getting hungry as I think about it.

A few days later Beth and I were on a date and we just had to stop at Cold Stone Creamery to see what the buzz was all about.  We opened the door and the wonderful smells of the different fresh fruit toppings & brownies hit us. We knew we were going to like it.  We walked up to the counter and they had dozens of delicious toppings.  I felt like a kid in an ice cream store.  Someone in front of us was getting Candy sprinkles, fruit, and chocolate syrup added to theirs.

On the menu board, they had a dozen or more Signature Creations that they recommended but one of them caught my attention.  It was called the Birthday Cake Remix Ice Cream Creation. The Birthday Cake Remix included Cake Batter Ice Cream, a brownie, Chocolate Syrup, Fudge, and Candy Sprinkles.  They asked “Would you like a sample?”  I agreed and they put some on a very small spoon just enough to entice you. I put the small spoon in my mouth and it was heavenly. The cake batter ice cream mixed with the brownie which perfectly mixed with the chocolate syrup, and then the sprinkles.  It was like I was eating a frozen piece of Birthday Cake, only better.

My wife and I placed our orders. She got her own because I wasn’t sharing. =) We slowly enjoyed each bite of our ice cream creations until the cup was completely empty.  I remember leaving the store and immediately thinking “I have to tell someone about this.”  I called some family members that evening and told them that they needed to try the Birthday Cake Remix at Cold Stone Creamery.  Later that weekend, I told most of my friends how much I enjoyed the experience.   Many of them later went themselves to experience the Birthday Cake Remix and loved it and in return told someone else.

What happened?  We found out about something good, experienced it ourselves, and told other people.  We shared the Good News about Cold stone Creamery and people followed our lead. They went to on to experience it.  The Gospel means “good news”.  Are you sharing good news? If we would do that for ice cream, our favorite restaurant, or a new movie, why wouldn’t we do that with the Gospel of Jesus? The Gospel of Jesus will change the world! Psalm 34:8 says “Taste and see that the LORD is good.”  Once we have experience Jesus and seen that He is good, we need to tell other people.  I once heard someone describe witnessing as one beggar telling another beggar where there is free bread.

One of my wife’s first jobs as a teenager was that she was the “Sample, Sample!” Lady at the mall for Chic-fil-a. She didn’t have to do anything but pass out samples of chicken to passerbys. Did the FREE sample, make people hungry? Absolutely! When was the last time you made anyone hungry for more of God? When there are open doors share the Good News, your story, & your testimony. God has commanded and commissioned us to share the Good News around the World.  I hope I made you hungry today!
